American singer-songwriter Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, better known by her stage name Lana Del Rey, was born on June 21, 1985. She is known for the cinematic nature of her music, which explores tragic romance, glitz, and melancholy while making frequent allusions to modern pop culture and 1950s–1960s Americana.
In addition to being nominated for six Grammy Awards and a Golden Globe Award, she has won a number of awards, including two Brit Awards, two MTV Europe Music Awards, and a Satellite Award.
James Patterson, the highest-paid author in the world, thinks it's important for children to mind their manners.
Perhaps he feels the same way about his co-writers.
For his 2016 children’s book “Give Please a Chance,” the best-selling novelist teamed up with TV personality Bill O’Reilly to remind kids of the value of politeness. But for his follow-up book, “Give Thank You a Try,” Patterson is going it alone.
Might that change have something to do with certain impolite behavior that nudged O’Reilly from his job at Fox News this spring?
Chilean singer-songwriter Mon Laferte is the kind of artist who can shift with ease from covering Metallica one moment to performing a heart-wrenching bolero. Since the beginning of her career, she has explored a variety of genres, with songs that range from folk-infused rock to “música cebolla,” a Chilean genre that highlights lyrics of romance and sorrow. Her powerful vocal delivery and commanding stage presence have made her one of the most popular female artists in Latin America.

“As I’m sure many can understand, my thoughts about Ken Starr bring up complicated feelings,” she tweeted Tuesday after reports that Starr had died at age 76. “But of more importance, is that I imagine it’s a painful loss for those who love him.

‘Passenger 57’ (PG-13) By Hal Hinson
Washington Post Staff Writer November 06, 1992 "Passenger 57" is an airplane hijacking movie that attempts to present its star, Wesley Snipes, as a combination of Bruce Lee and Bruce Willis. It's a kung-fu "Die Hard" picture, and, frankly, just plain silly. The movie turns around Snipes, who plays an airline security adviser and karate expert who just happens to be on board when a terrorist gang takes over the plane to free its sinister leader (Bruce Payne), who is being escorted to jail by the FBI.

Last month, school officials at Windfern High in Houston expelled 17-year-old senior India Landry for refusing to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance in protest of “police brutality” and “Donald Trump being president.”
Despite her expulsion, most legal scholars agree that refusing to stand for the pledge is protected by the Constitution. The Supreme Court has held, in fact, that the government can neither require a student to participate in the pledge nor compel them “to engage in what amounts to implicit expression by standing at respectful attention while the flag salute is being administered.
